MOVEMENT: PILATES, YOGA, and THE PELVIC FLOOR

Pilates will change you.
It will make it easier for you to stand, sit, walk, run, climb, lift, carry, breathe and crawl. It prepares you for your life. And it’s for everyone.
Man or woman.
Any age.
Any ability…..mic drop here.

Change is always an adventure and a journey.
There is no clear-cut path to success but there are great vistas, park benches and cheerable moments along the way.

Imagine being able to pick up your child without grimacing from the pain in your knees or back, or a 20-mile bike ride becomes just another fun afternoon. This can be your reality. How? Because you can develop the stamina, stability and strength to live and move with more freedom and ease.  Pretty neat huh?

You are as young as your spine is flexible.

MOVEMENT: THE PELVIC FLOOR

Pee just a little?

Like when you sneeze or jump up quickly. Do you have pee urgency? As in can't make it to the bathroom in time? Maybe sex is painful or uneventful.   Guess what? You’re not alone.

I became very interested in the role of the pelvic floor after delivering a 10lb, 10oz baby girl. I’ll spare you the details. 25 years ago nobody was talking about “that” area and it was impossible to get answers to my questions from even my female gynecologist. There wasn't much information available but I read everything I could get my hands that mentioned the female pelvic floor. I couldn't believe I was the only woman asking questions! Were we all just to embarrassed? In 1991 I presented the very first seminar on this topic ,entitled “Menopause and Exercise” at a Reebok national conference. At that time I was told me that I would never sell a book with the word “Menopause” in the title! I also produced one of the first pregnancy videos “Stepping Through Pregnancy” at a time when doctors were telling women that they shouldn’t exercise during pregnancy! Thankfully, things have changed.

Listen, I don’t hold back when it comes to talking about the pelvic floor. I will teach you how to locate, contract, strengthen or relax some of the most important muscles in your body. We’ll figure out which exercises will benefit you and you’ll leave with an exercise prescription. Individual Appointments available.

This is one of my favorite topics! I've been called the Queen of Kegels! I'd love to speak to your group.
